Memorial bead with sand from Omaha Beach D-Day site, Normandy
Part of my Hallowed Ground series of beads, this design features a red/white/blue base bead rolled in sand brought back from Omaha Beach in Normandy. Omaha Beach saw nearly 4200 casualties on June 6, 1944 as part of the D-Day invasion. The red/white/blue base color represents the American, British, or French flags... or the blood, sand, and sea of that chaotic and important day.

A stylish salute to our country's birthday! This large-hole bead is vibrant red ringed with foamy light-ivory, dotted with blue. Three cheers! Bead Measurements: Bead Width (side to side): c. 20 mm (7/8 inch) Bead Height (hole to hole): c. 10.5 mm (1/2 inch) Hole Size: c. 4.5 mm Will fit European cham style systems, but please check hole size. Our one-of-a-kind art glass beads are made in our back porch studio, looking out at the gardens for inspiration, using minor burner torches with a variety of glasses, including Effetre/Moretti from Murano, Italy, Kugler and Double Helix glass. They are formed and shaped primarily with gravity and the aid of paddles with an occasional use of presses, and slowly annealed and cooled overnight in a digitally controlled kiln. They are then carefully cleaned and inspected.

Early Seymour Jazz Bead, Turquoise, Coral, Red, White
This is an example of my Jazz Beads from the first series I made around 1993. The colors all are from raw batch I was making at that time. The bead is large, measuring 30 X40 mm and it has tapered hole from 7mm at one end to about 10 mm at the other indicating that this bead was made from near the end of a cane. The bead is polished consistent with my practices in the early nineties and shows some surface wear from being in the bead box and being worn for some time. It is a great example of the earliest jazz series.
Signed Heavy Metal Jazz Seymour Chevron Bead
This little beauty is from my heavy metal series done around 2003. It is 31x19mm with approximately a 3mm hole. The two primary design elements are mosaic cane I pulled around the year 2001 and the center of the mosaic is one of my signature canes with the AS signature surrounded by a chevron pattern ( very hard to photograph but clear to see ) The bead has good form and balance and near full jazz coverage of the design. The silver underlay shows up well behind all the design elements making this a real sparkler!!

XL football shaped, 7 layer, satin finished, turquoise blue, white & red chevron. Measurements 59mm x 31mm Hole size 1.5mm This bead has a few "worm holes." You can see these in the 4th pic where the outer aqua blue layer meets the first layer of white.
